I really wanted to create something new for the mantle this year for Valentine's Day! I had seen so many garlands lately, but I wanted mine to sparkle. So, I took a trip to Hobby Lobby and picked up 4 different shades of glitter paper. This was SO simple. Here's what you need....
- Glitter Paper ( The length of my garland required six 8 1/2 X 11 sheets)
- Twine or string
- Double sided tape or glue
- Scissors
First step is to measure out how long you want your garland to be and then you can determine how many scallops you need. I cut my sheets into strips and then into equal squares. I folded each square in half and did a free-hand half circle.
While still folded over, I used double sided tape to seal lower part of the circle together. After I finished all of the scallops, I strung to the top half (the fold) through twine. That's it!
I love how versatile this is! It could be used for home decor, party decor, or depending on the colors, can decorate a child's room, bedroom, etc. I definitely want to make more of these dainty little garlands, possibly in cotton candy tones.
I also decorated the mantle with last year's Valentine's DIY glitter jars (find it HERE). I am such a glitter fanatic. I would glitter the house if I could. -_-
Next I filled those glitter jars with my DIY coffee filter flowers (find it HERE). I have SUCH an abundance of these things as I made them for my parent's anniversary party last year...so I try to use them whenever I can. If anyone needs pink coffee filter flowers, you let me know ;P
Hope you are enjoying your Tuesday! Today is a good day to be thankful for heat in our house. Indianapolis is crazy cold. As in the coldest it's been in years. Blek!
