Blythe Ponytail Parades: Inspiration

As you are all probably well aware, I am a big fan of Mab Graves and absolutely LOVE sharing her work with you all! Well today I get to share some snaps from her most recent art show, Pretending to be Human. In her own words, "Pretending to be Human is all about misfits. It's about how so often people make snap judgments about you just because you look a certain way or because of one weird fact about your past or heritage. They say "oh, this is who you are" without seeing who you are inside. My Pretending show is about a series of little girls -who's parents just happen to be Classic Monsters - that just want to be seen as normal."

As always, I was blown away by every piece and I must say, it's pretty awesome to have someone as talented and unique as Mab living in my city of Indianapolis. She is such a complete sweetheart! So without further ado, here's a peek into her halloween-esque art show...

I'm fairly certain that Bee of The Secret Life of Bee and I would be best buds if we lived closer to eachother. She's a pretty cool girl with a pretty cool idea to post her "Desert Island: Albums" list inspired by that wonderful episode of The Office "The Fire". Everytime I watch that episode, I seriously make a little list in my head of what my top movies, tv shows, albums, books, etc. would be. I've been wanting an excuse to share my favorites like this and since I loved putting this list together so much, I will be sharing more on different topics in the future. Unfortunately, I am so silly that I can't possibly narrow the list down to less than 10, so....So here's my first top 10 I can't live without (not in order)....

Emery "The Weak's End" My now husband asked me out by playing an Emery song outside my window. I was proposed to on stage of an Emery show. This blog is inspired by the best track on said CD "The Ponytail Parades". So you can imagine that they are a big part of my life and have been since I was 14. In my opinion, their best album.
Copeland "In Motion" This band means a whole lot to me and this album really was the soundtrack to my high school years. There were few days that passed that this CD wasn't played. It brings back a lot of happy memories.
Say Anything "...Is a Real Boy" This CD 2 very distinct memories that come alongside of it. 1 being falling in love with Grant and this album being a background for it. 2 travelling out West where I spent 2 weeks listening to nothing but this CD. Much love for Say Anything.
Enya "Sheperd Moons" You know those songs that literally strike a chord of just childhood memories. That's this whole CD for me. Thanks to my mother for playing it a lot as a child. It still soothes me better than any music to date.
Fall Out Boy "From Under the Cork Tree" This album was played through the best times of highschool and beyond. But it mostly brings me back to childish immaturity and fun times with my friends.
Further Seems Forever "The Moon is Down" This was my emo sappy I want to cry today music through high school and college. Still is. It was also when Chris Carrabba was at his best.
A Walk to Remember Soundtrack This one is extremely nostalgic AND includes some perfectly perfect songs. I remember making a vow as a kid that if I ever become a rock/pop singing sensation (which is so obviously going to happen right?) that I would cover the Mandy Moore song "cry" from this soundtrack....
A Day to Remember "Homesick" Simply put, A Day to Remember seriously rocks.
Yellowcard "Ocean Avenue" Just having gone to the acoustic tour of Yellowcard's Ocean Avenue anniversary, I can't help but realize how much this album affected me. From the day it came out to years on, these songs would be forever repeated over and over. Needless to say, I cried a lot of tears at the 10 year reunion show.
Emery "The Question" Second album of Emery's and nearly as good as the first. I just couldn't bare the idea of not including it on the list.
