I had been searching around a lot for old wooden crates to use for projects. My parents have a few that we used to keep library books in, mittens and hats, etc. I just love the rustic, country look they have! I found these 2 beauties at a farmer's market recently for $5. SO, I just had to decide WHAT I wanted to do with them. There were so many options....
I had seen them used for storage, I've seen them sitting on their side and used to fill books, antiques, knick knacks, I had seen them holding plants, or for children's toys in a bedroom. That last one is my favorite, but since I don't have kids, I decided to fill it with some of my favorite greenery! I had the perfect place for it next to our TV shelf by the window in our living room. And I must say, it is one of my favorite parts of the room now.
I picked up some sweet succulents from the local nursery and then grabbed this pot that fits nicely inside the crate. I wanted a nice combination of plants and some that were a bit taller than others to give it dimension.
As for the second crate, I used it to prop this top crate up (I didn't want the plants sitting right on the floor). I really love it this way! I am so obsessed that the next time I spot these little crates at a good price, I will be getting more. LOVE LOVE LOVE.
Violet, I LOVE the way this turned out! I seriously want to make this for my home! I love succulents!

They look so beautiful. You are so clever. I have the worst plant skills of all time. I bet even I could kill these plants. :(

Yeah, they are everywhere at antique stores, but don't pay too much for them. They usually aren't worth much cause there are SO SO many of them.
