One of the presents I gave my mom this year was her own little shadow box painting. I have been making a habit of doing these more often and I wanted to do a miniature one for her. The frame was a 5x7 so the painting is quite small. Both her and my dad love nature and mountains and log cabins. So I wanted to combine a little of everything in this one.
As you can see I create different layers and I lay them on top of eachother in the box creating a shadow effect. I often times just use tape, double sided sticky tape and little pieces of cardboard to separate out the layers in the box.
What do you think? I am going to start a new one in the next few weeks and I am pretty excited about the theme. Do you have any ideas for my next painting?
Very pretty!

That is so beautiful! You've got some serious talent! I'd love to make something like this in frame--seems like so much fun to make. Maybe I can create one using stamps.

This is reminds me--Aaron and I went to City Market for the YELP Bazaar, and there was a vendor there who was selling only shadowbox paintings like this one! I took her/their business card and was going to tell you about the vendor, if you didn't already know who it was.

I think I know who you are talking about! I have seen quite a few people recently making shadowbox paintings and I saw a girl at an Indy craft fair selling them too. Might be the same person. She's awesome :D I've put her stuff up on the blog before!
