One of my favorite recipes is Chicken Broccoli Braid! I have been making it for years and it's a holiday favorite. It's also very simple, but beautiful looking! Here's what you need...
- 2 8 ounce packages of crescent rolls
- 1 cup chopped broccoli
- 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
- 1 clove crushed garlic
- 1 cup shredded Cheddar Cheese
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 teaspoons dried dill weed
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup diced red onion
- 1 egg
Cook up your chicken breast and set aside. Mix together your mayo, garlic, green pepper, onion, salt, pepper, dill, cheese and broccoli. Next add your chicken and evenly mix.
Next pop open your crescent rolls and lay them out on an oven pan. Completely unroll until they are a rectangle. Now push and pinch together and separations. Connect both rolls of crescent rolls so that you have one long rectangle. Don't allow any separations or holes. Basically it needs to look like a long rectangle of cookie dough rolled out. Now cut 2 inch lines on opposite sides of your rectangle (see above). You will use these strips to "braid" it together at the end.
Now spread your mixture out evenly between your cut strips in the rectangle (see above). Now taking a cut strip from each opposite side of the rectangle, pull the dough over your mixture and simply twist the pieces together over the mixture. Try to keep all of the mixture covered by dough.
Next mix an egg and brush over the top of your whole braid and then bake at 375 for 24-29 minutes or until golden brown.
Done! Let me know if you decide to try this delicious recipe! It's a family favorite :)
This looks AMAZING. I'm tempted to try it even in my tiny kitchen :p
