I LOVE taking pictures at concerts. Absolutely love it. Which brings me to my next bucket list entry. For all the years that I've screamed along, sang along and cried my eyes out to Fall Out Boy, I have never once seen them live. Now, they aren't currently playing together...I can't tell you my disappointment when their last tour came through and I didn't go. They are on the list of bands to see before I die. Though they may not be my very favorite band in the world, they are pretty high up. And one I know would be just spectacular to photograph rocking out on stage. I would love to get up close, clear shots of this epic band playing. Maybe one day?
#13 Photograph Fall Out Boy in concert
The shots above were taken at a local venue called the Emerson Theatre (one of the worst places to go for concerts btw). A few bands were playing that night and though I didn't spend an eternity trying to get the perfect shots like I ususally do at shows, these ended up being some of my favorites. I love the colors and the feeling you get from the crowd. There are a million things wrong with these shots. There's motion blur, harsh shadows, over exposure, etc., but I don't care. I really like them for what they are :) This is what a concert is to me. Not just the band playing with a zoomed in shot of their hands on the guitar. It's the room, the people, the emotion and the tone of the evening that can make or break a shot. I love including the crowd. Even though I don't make it out to tons of shows anymore (I'm getting old), I still remember that complete rush and energy of hearing a dream band play your favorite song. I love seeing a room full of strangers coming together for the music. It's magical.

Did you take those band photos? If so, they are amazing! How do you get such beautiful shots? I always struggled with concert photography in the past.

I sure did! If you use an SLR, having a low aperture lens is almost essential to get good shots, and even then it's difficult!

Wow, thank you so much Jenny!

These photos are out of this world! I love them! I love the blue and the pink tones coming off the stage! Awesome job! If I could take a tripod with me to concerts, I think my photos would turn out a little better, then again maybe if I stopped jumping up and down and screaming most of the time, that would help too! ;)
