So as some of you may already know, I work at a publishing house which recently had 3 food trucks come to serve free lunches to the building. Part of the deal for free lunches is that during our time ordering, we may be videotaped or photographed for the making of Running a Food Truck For Dummies!
My first question is, and this isn't rhetorical so please answer me if you know, why are "food trucks" all trendy and stuff now? Why do all these hipsters keep talking about food trucks? Haven't food trucks existed for....ages? I mean the ice cream truck has been around for how long and so have all the trucks and buses that serve food at any fair and I never heard people running around town talking about their food from the food truck... I am thoroughly confused, but I was excited about the opportunity for free lunch and to see what all the fuss was about.
I had heard several people (locally) talking about the Mac Genie truck that serves gourmet Mac & Cheese and how tastey it is. Since that was one of the local vendors coming, I decided to try it that day. I was a bit bummed when I saw that my options were few and far between. I ended up going with the classic Mac because I didn't want bacon or ranch all over my noodles. That just sounds disgusting to me. I'm sure my husband would have loved it ;) I would have preferred some kind of veggie mixed in!
Anyways...I was disappointed overall, but I did get a lot of food. I just felt that the cheese was overpowering and that seems like an impossible thing for me to say. It wasn't anything special... I SO wanted it to be though.
How about you? Have you heard of this fad of "Food Trucks" and are there any good ones around you? I know I wouldn't mind one to drive around to businesses selling cupcakes. I totally wouldn't mind that at all. ;)
P.S. Our winner for the Fashion for Home $150 gift card has been chosen via True Random Generator! Congrats Lydia! An email is being sent with info for retrieval of your gift card!
i am just discovering food trucks! i've only tried on that was really good- a grilled cheese truck. there are tons of others here in nashville, but i guess i'm just behind on the trend. this is definitely new to me tho- in my hometown in NH, we don't have any food trucks!

What a great thing! We should have this at our school for us teachers. That would be amazing!
Thank you so much for following my blog. Unfortunately it's in German so you probably can't really understand what I'm writing. I hope you'll still enjoy it!

In Philly, we have "The Falafel Guy." He just drives around and trendy folk flock to him on their fixed-gear bicycles in droves. Not gonna lie though, his food is kind of delicious.

I have no idea why it's trendy now. I thought it was all over the place haha! I've seen a bunch of food trucks drive around, park at events or hang out at work places for lunch/dinner time. I don't really know any specific's besides Chinese food since I love and stick to the taco trucks the most xD
Bacon or ranch on Mac n Cheese.. sounds kind of decent. Grosssssss :)
