I saw the Northern Lights once....very, very, very faintly in the late night sky in Noblesville, Indiana. I was a kid. I remember it pretty vividly though. Unfortunately, I wasn't a photographer then, and even if I was, there might not have been enough color in the sky to photograph. Ever since I got into photography in my adult life, I wanted to be able to photograph this natural phenomenom. Preferably during a trip to Alaska, but I'll take it any way I can get it ;) I also really want to photograph Alaska, but I think that's partially because of my love of the show Northern Exposure I grew up watching. But that's another story....
#6 Photograph the Northern lights
The above shot was taken at a park near our house in January of this year. My husband and I went out late one night to get a few shots of the night sky for a photo swap I did with Anna Z! For some reason, using a long exposure (meaning the shutter stayed open for 30 seconds allowing a TON of light in the camera), I got this result. It kind of reminded me of the Northern lights. Of course it is NOT the Northern lights, but it was my favorite shot of the night.
Have a great Saturday guys! I'm off to shoot a wedding in Kokomo, Indiana!
that's a pretty skies. i love it. :)

Wow! When I read the first part of your post I thought that was a shot of the Northern lights with just really pore exposure but to know that is how the night sky looks through a camera is amazing!

I think this should be on everyone's bucket list. The photo also reminds me of the generic Mac background :)
