We bought our home a year ago. For the whole year, we didn't make too many drastic changes to the house. We painted the bedroom, living room and dining room. We had one of the light fixtures painted, but that's about it. The rest of it has pretty much remained the same.
Well, winter puts me in the change mood (because spring is coming) and since it's been so warm lately, it makes me want to change things even more. So we finally decided to go for my kitchen idea. I wanted to paint our white walls mint green. I wanted a chalkboard wall in the kitchen. And I also wanted painted white cabinets. So....this week, we did all of that and here are the results! (The before picture was the first one taken when we got the house. Spacey me forgot to take an official "BEFORE" shot so this grainy one will have to do)
What do you think? I think it's a big improvement over that outdated fake wood >.<
GORGEOUS!!!

Be. Still. My. HEART! It looks awesome, Violet!! Not even the same kitchen! Also, I love your mason jars above the cabinets. That area always stumps me... I like what you've done!

Just swell! Definitely an improvement. Love your little accents; bird cage, Kewpie, the jars—too cute. It's amazing what a little paint can do too. The counters and stove look completely different/new. Very fresh and inviting space. Job well done!

this looks amazing! seriously. I love how much open and bright it looks. I love, love, love it! you should submit this to the Better After blog. I wanted a chalkboard wall too...but I have a toddler, and I'm pretty sure if I let him draw on a chalkboard wall, he would have a difficult time remembering his boundaries and he would end up drawing on ALL our walls. So I settled for painting my pantry doors with chalkboard paint.

Thanks for the idea Michelle. I'd never seen the blog before and so I submitted it :)

this is AMAZING! It must have been relatively inexpensive too, I'm guessing? It looks so so good!

Oh yeah, SO CHEAP! I think it was less than 50 altogether!!!!

Your kitchen certainly opened up with the new color. Maybe I can convince my wife with a neutral green too… she wants powdery pink like this, but green works well with brown countertops.

Powdery pink would be gorgeous, but I think the green is more neutral :P Less feminine and more classic :)
Posted by: BlythePonytailParades | Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 05:53
Hmm, that's true. Green would be more neutral in several ways. Pink can be a good color, but if the shade is too light, it might look faded during the day. Well, that can work as well, depending on the space of your kitchen. The lighter colors would provide a more open atmosphere while a neutral green would be more solid-looking.

What an amazing before and after. The white walls, wood countertops and mint walls blend into a beautiful cohesive design. I also love the cute jars on the counters. What brand and colors did you use for the walls and cabinets?

This looks really awesome! We have the ugly wood cabinets in our kitchen as well. I plan to paint them white in the Spring. I love how much more open your kitchen looks. White cabinets are my favorite. :)
