Copeland is my second favorite band (only second to Emery who's song "Ponytail Parades" inspired my blog name). And on April 1st, they announced that they were coming back together after their break up to create a new album called "Ixora". You can check out the first song released here. When I saw the announcement on Facebook, I definitely bursted into tears and had a slight moment of panic realizing that it was April Fool's day and it all might be an elaborate joke. Thankfully it wasn't and I started throwing my money at the computer within minutes to reserve a copy of their fall album. Guys, I legit love this band.
Right after I got engaged, I heard the announcement that Copeland would be doing it's last tour and that no more albums were to be released from that point. Gosh, that was a really depressing day and at that point, I had not seen them live ever. And of course, they were playing no where near Indianapolis during their last tour. I was heartbroken. While planning our honeymoon to Santa Monica, CA soon after the announcement, I got the urge to just check their tour dates again. Slim chances that they would be there in the two weeks we would, but it was worth a shot. And by-golly they were playing at the El Rey theatre in LA during our stay. Again, money was thrown at the computer and my tickets were reserved. Still one of the best shows I've ever attended despite the venue workers being the meanest people on earth. My sweet husband is not terribly fond of that style of music...I call it tragically beautiful and he probably calls it "that music that makes Violet cry". He stuck it out though and held my hand while I wept openly throughout their set. I'm a cryer if that hasn't come across already.
But anyways, now that I shared that fun little story, I wanted to share my favorites from Copeland throughout the years. I've been listening to them since I was a sophomore in high school....which was basically a million years ago so I have a lot of favorites. Anyways, hope you enjoy as much as I do! They're pretty amazing :)
Oh, how I wish I could have done their promo photos ^_^
Back before I knew what I was doing with a camera or had a decent one, I took some pictures at their show. They are all pretty terrible.
Above is the one my husband snagged of me and Aaron Marsh, the lead singer back in 2010.
