We are big on grilled cheese sandwiches in this house. And we have them pretty frequently. So I am always trying new things! One sandwich that I made last week was too yummy! Check out the recipe below.
WHAT YOU NEED:
Bread ( I used whole wheat bread )
Chicken Breasts
White Cheddar Cheese
American Cheese
Feta (optional)
Onions (optional)
Green Pepper (optional)
OR your favorite veggies
I started by throwing 2 chicken breasts into a crock pot with a cup of chicken broth, sprinkle or salt and pepper, 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, and 1/4 teaspoon onion powder. Cook in crock pot slow until finished. I started mine around 2 and pulled it out at 5:30 to start the sandwiches. Every crockpot is different so make your best guess as to how long it will take to fully cook both breasts together. Once finished, shred the chicken with a fork.
Next butter one side of a piece of bread and lay it (butter side down) on the sprayed pan at medium heat. Next add a slice of white american cheese, a spoonful of shredded chicken, your preference of veggie and a slice of American Cheese. Sprinkle with feta if you like. Next top with another piece of bread (butter side up). Grill just as you would a normal grilled cheese. And you're done! The recipe made 3 grilled cheese sandwiches (1 for me and 2 for my husband).
