Hello! My name is Alexandra, and I'm a fashion/editorial photographer from the Central Coast of California. You can find me over at a. w. photography, but today I really wanted to share a recent shoot I did with all of Violet's lovely readers!
After a night drive to my boyfriend's house after class, I heard a David Bowie song on the radio. I hadn't really listened or given him much thought since high school, and while I've never been his biggest fan, his persona and characters always seemed fascinating to me.
About a week later, this shoot was created! With my lovely make-up artist and hair stylist Ariel behind the wheel, she did an amazing rendition of Bowie's Aladdin Sane look on my model, Nadia. This make-up seriously made my jaw drop when I saw the final result before shooting [along with that hair - yes, that is basket-weaved!!], and with a DIY backdrop of aluminum tinfoil and a thrift store gold shirt from the 80's that I've had kicking around for years, we made our own little [slightly galactic] Bowie-inspired world come to life!
