I grabbed this idea from A Beautiful Mess recently and just fell in love with it! So easy, so cheap and so sweet. I am such a sparkly kind of person.
Here's what you need:
The first step is to paint the modpodge on the inside of the jar (either fully coat it or draw one specific design).
I painted on a single heart for the inside and immediately sprinkled the inside of the jar with the glitter. You can also close the jar and shake it up that way. Just make sure it is really well coated in glitter.
Let that sit and dry for a while. I waited an hour on mine, but you can just play it by how quickly it is drying.
Now, paint the other area of the inside of your jar (either with a design or solid coat). Do not paint over the already glittered area. Immediately coat in a different shade of glitter.
This is the result before it was dry while the glue was still shining through! Once your last layer is done, set aside for a day until ALL the modpodge is dry and secure. Then smother the whole inside of the jar with a thick layer of mod podge. This creates a seal on the glitter so that it will not flake off all over the place.
And you're done! For the jar on the left, I did many different coats with many different patterns to achieve that look. It took longer, but it's my favorite!
Let me know if you guys try this and you can head on over to A Beautiful Mess' tutorial of the same DIY HERE!
